Bitter lyrics about the end of a relationship

A popular song describes an angry end to an abusive relationship
Love and devotion turn to hostility and revenge

In 2010, American rapper and music producer Eminem released his seventh album Recovery. The album debuted at number 1 in America and sold over 700,000 copies in its first week.

Anger and rage are common counselling issues, shown here by breaking glass. One track on the album titled ’25 to Life’ describes one man’s bitter, resentful end to an emotionally abusive and controlling relationship.

Though some suggest the song is about the singer’s ‘divorce’ from hip hop music, the lyrics are written from an angry man to his now-ex female partner. The aggression and force of the lyrics leave no doubt about his feelings for his ex-partner.

The video for ’25 to Life’ has been viewed one million times on YouTube, mostly by Eminem’s largely young following.

The lyrics of the song don’t hold back. They are angry and vengeful. The abused becomes the abusive and strength is found in vindictive fury.

A warning however: the lyrics are explicit.
