Relationship counselling for couples in London

Relationship therapy, or couples counselling, provides space for couples to discuss their issues and find solutions to problems within their relationship.

Close relationships bring many rewards but they can also be challenging. Learning how to resolve conflicts and get through difficult times together, or make difficult decisions, is a key part of couples counselling.

Our couples therapists won’t push you or your partner towards staying together or separating. They will support you to make those decisions yourselves.

How might couples counselling help?

Many different issues can be brought to relationship therapy, including:

  • anger or resentment in the relationship
  • indecision over whether to stay together or separate
  • recurring conflicts, arguments, disagreements
  • wanting to separate with minimal hurt to each other or children
  • disagreements around parenting
  • abusive behaviour
  • imbalance of power in the relationship
  • feeling stuck, unhappy or no longer in love
  • sexual or intimacy issues
  • jealousy, guilt, shame, regret
  • conflicts over money
  • infidelity and affairs
  • opening up the relationship to other partners

Our relationship therapists will help you better understand the dynamics between you and your partner and recognise how these dynamics play out in your communication and behaviour with each other.

We work with straight, gay and bi couples, in long- and short-term relationships, whether monogamous or polyamorous.

If sexual issues are a major factor in your relationship, you may prefer to see one of our couples counsellors who is also qualified in psychosexual therapy.

Getting you both talking is the first step

Relationships are complicated and problems in relationships are often deeply rooted. Many couples rarely talk about their relationship. It can be hard to find the time or the right opportunity. Weekly couples therapy is a great way to prioritise your relationship and focus on the issues at hand.

You can end your therapy at any time just by letting your therapist know.

Our clients have reported great results!

Mr K
“I was attending sessions at One Therapy practice for about 1 1/2 years. I am very happy with the result, sessions there really helped me. I am really grateful to my therapist. Someone recommended him to me as a high professional and it proved right, thank you.”
Mrs M
“I can only provide positive comments on my sessions with (my therapist). This was my first experience with a therapist, and she managed to make me feel comfortable. And I must say that the sessions were helpful and efficient.”
Mrs E
“My therapist was extremely helpful, considerate and understanding. I felt she properly understood what the issues I had were, and their underlying causes, and I feel I benefited considerably from the sessions with her.”
Mrs N
“I immediately felt completely at ease as they were very professional while showing genuine care and interest in helping me. I was able to confront many issues which I had so far chosen to ignore despite their negative effects on my personal relationships and happiness. I would have no hesitation in recommending (One Therapy) to anyone looking to improve their relationships and self-esteem.”
Mrs L
“I learned a lot about myself and about the relationships I make with other people. I was able to see where I was going wrong and I now make better personal choices. Thank you, again.”
Mrs R
“I can’t thank you enough for the help and support I got from my appointments. I would highly recommend therapy to anyone now. Therapy helped me in more ways than I could have imagined. Please tell (my therapist) how grateful I am for her help.”

Good couples counselling can help!

As with personal therapy for individuals, your first appointment is an opportunity for you and your partner to discuss the problems within your relationship and talk through what you want to get from therapy. Your couples counsellor will also address any questions or concerns you may have about couples counselling.

Our therapists remain neutral — we don’t take sides. We help by identifying and assessing behavioural patterns in a relationship and encouraging effective communication.

Issues within relationships are often personal, private and hard to talk about. Our couples therapists do not judge personal choices or sexual experiences.

We’ve prepared a Guide to Couples Therapy that you may find helpful.

The easiest way to book your first couples therapy appointment is by using our online booking system here. Booking an appointment is easy and takes about 5 minutes.

Psychosexual therapy for sexual issues

Some of our couples counsellors are also qualified in psychosexual therapy. Psychosexual therapists can help with specific sexual issues such as loss of desire, painful sex or erectile problems. Please let us know if you would like to see one of our psychosexual therapists.

If you are having relationship problems and would like to explore how relationship therapy might help, phone 0333 207 9330 or get in touch to make a first appointment. We are here to help.

Relationship issues is one of the most common reasons for people to seek counselling.

We facilitate hundreds of couples therapy sessions every year.
