We are here to help

We were founded in 2006 by a therapist who saw a growing need for professional, high-quality therapy that’s accessible, compassionate and affordable. We started with one location in Oxford Circus, and have since expanded to open practices in Bloomsbury, Notting Hill and Brighton.

Our therapists do more than just listen to you. We’ll work with you to understand your needs and give practical support to help you overcome any emotional or psychological issues you may have.

One of our therapists puts it like this: ‘Time with a therapist builds a relationship like no other. The nature of therapy means that people can be who they are, say what they want and be vulnerable. It gives them space to escape the world of technology and devices, think about the kind of life they actually want to have, repair emotional damage, make sense of their experiences and move forward.’

Therapy your way

We have a whole range of therapy options and choices to fit your needs. From short and longer-term counselling for individuals, to couples counselling or psychosexual therapy, through to Single Session Talks with one of our therapists to discuss whatever’s on your mind. They are excellent. We have more than 30 qualified therapists and psychologists working with us, each carefully chosen for their training, experience and diversity. Our Senior Therapists have between 10 and 30 years of experience and have been working with us for at least five years.

We have male and female therapists, gay and straight therapists, relationship specialists, couples therapists, psychosexual therapists and therapists from different cultural backgrounds.

Our therapists are UK-trained and highly qualified. We are BACP and UKCP registered.

When you’re ready to go ahead, you can read their profiles and book yourself, or use our Therapist Matching Service if you’re not sure where to start.

At your first appointment, we will ask you a few questions. You will be asked to talk about what’s been happening in your life lately and to discuss the circumstances that have brought you to therapy. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions you have about counselling or psychotherapy.

At the end of this first appointment, you will be able to decide whether you want to continue with further appointments.

Definitely. Counsellors, couples therapists and psychologists don’t just listen; they are highly trained to talk with you in a way that gets to the bottom of whatever is on your mind. We have helped many people resolve all kinds of emotional, psychological and personal problems. Therapy is a good experience for most people.

We’ve helped thousands of people since we opened 20 years ago to resolve all kinds of emotional, psychological and personal problems. We will be happy to help you, too.

In addition to English, online and in-person therapy is available in French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, German, Danish, Serbian, Croatian, Russian and Portuguese, subject to our therapists’ availability. If you’d need or prefer therapy in one of these languages, please get in touch.

We only see clients who are aged 18 or over at One Therapy. If you’re under 18 and need support, please keep looking as it’s important that you get the right help. Your GP is a good place to start or search online for a child or adolescent therapist in your area.

Face-to-face therapy is best. There is nothing quite like two people coming together in the same room. The most important factor in therapy is the relationship that forms between client and therapist, and in-person sessions help build this more effectively.

There is, however, a place for online therapy. For some people, it is the preferred or only option. The most important thing is to get the help you need.
